About Us
As artificial intelligence continues to transform the landscape of healthcare, its integration into clinical practice has become not just a possibility, but a reality. From diagnostic algorithms to predictive analytics and personalized treatment planning, AI is rapidly becoming an indispensable part of modern medicine. With this evolution comes an urgent need for physicians-in-training to gain fluency in the concepts, tools, and ethical considerations that underpin AI technologies.
The AI in Medicine Interest Group will exist to meet this growing demand among students for education, engagement, and experience in the world of AI. Our mission is to equip future clinicians with the knowledge and skills necessary to thoughtfully engage with AI in their future practices-whether as end-users, collaborators, or innovators.
We will offer a range of events and resources designed to support student learning and foster a collaborative community:
- Educational Series: This year we are launching a five-part seminar series focused on the real-world implementation of AI in clinical medicine. Each session will highlight a different domain, featuring clinician-scientists who are integrating AI into their practice.
- Community-Building Picnic: To foster community and create opportunities for interdisciplinary conversation, we will host a welcome picnic at the start of the academic year. All students interested in the intersection of technology and medicine will be welcomed!
- Research Connection Database: Recognizing the importance of experiential learning, we will create a database to connect researchers conducting AI-related projects with students who have relevant technical or clinical interests. Whether one’s looking to apply your machine learning skills to a real-world dataset or seeking mentorship in a translational project, this tool will help facilitate those connections.
