About Us
The Advocates for Family Planning in Medicine group provides a space to candidly discuss, research, and promote the ability for women physicians to balance both a career in medicine and a meaningful family life. We recognize the challenges of family planning during medical training and aim to create a community built around advocacy and policy change with this priority in mind. We will have three pillars, centered around Medical Student Engagement, Research, and Advocacy. These committees will enable us to have a platform to discuss and learn about family planning options as medical trainees; to research and gain more insight as to issues surrounding fertility, access to maternity leave, and child care during training; and to advocate for policy change surrounding these critical issues. Overall, we hope to cultivate a culture in the medical field that is accepting of women who choose to have a family.
