About Us
Mount Sinai 1G (MS1G) is a student run organization dedicated to creating a community of self-identifed first-generation college graduates while providing support, resources, and mentorship for students by connecting with first-generation faculty and staff. Through events, workshops, and peer-led initiatives, MS1G strives to:
1.Build a visible and welcoming first-gen community at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
2.Address the academic, social, and emotional needs of first-gen students navigating the rigors of graduate and medical education.
3. Promote awareness by highlighting the contributions and needs of first-gen individuals within the broader Mount Sinai ecosystem.
By uplifting first-generation voices and fostering intergenerational mentorship, MS1G works to ensure that all students-regardless of background-have the tools, confidence, and community to thrive.
