The Mount Sinai Evidence-Based Medicine Student Journal Club was formed as a result of a needs assessment (2016) conducted for Mount Sinai Medical students and presented the results at the Medical Education Research Day in 2018.
- 62% of students agreed or strongly agreed that there is a “lack of training in how to ask clinical questions”
- 63% of students agreed or strongly agreed that there is a “lack of training in how to apply research to patient care”
- 78.6% of students were interested or very interested in developing their ability to critique research papers.
- 91% of students were interested or very interested in developing their knowledge of research that impacts patient care.
