Milestones and Growth  

  • In 2018-2019 Social Work Wellness Advisors were invited to co-facilitate sessions with the medical student leaders. The goal was to help increase face time with the wellness advisors to remind students that they can access this resource at any time throughout the year.   
  • In 2019-2020, the first PEERS faculty advisor was formally hired as a leadership position within the Office of Well-Being and Resilience  
  • In 2019, PEERS was recognized with the Student/Resident Poster Award for Curriculum Development, American Psychiatric Association   
  • In 2020, PEERS received the David C. Leach Award by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)  
  • In 2020, PEERS expanded from being solely a medical student program to reach graduate students in the School of Biomedical Sciences

  • In November 2020 Dr. Jacqueline Hargrove, a clinical psychologist and assistant professor with the Mount Sinai Health System, was hired as the new PEERS faculty advisor. 
  • In 2021, PEERS expanded from the medical and graduate schools to several Residency Programs across ISMMS. 
  • Presently, PEERS continues as a required part of medical student training, is incorporated into ten GME Residency and Fellowship Programs, and is offered to all first-year Masters, PhD, and Genetic Counseling within the school of Biomedical Sciences.
