Street Medicine Interest Group

The Street Medicine Interest Group provides an introduction to street medicine and outreach for medical students. Through interactive workshops, community-informed teaching, and interdisciplinary speakers, students will learn practical street medicine skills and develop an understanding of homelessness and housing insecurity in NYC. We also hope to help engage with the community by hosting our own volunteer events such as a feet washing event, clothing drives, or collaborating with other Mount Sinai groups to pass out harm reduction kits. We additionally will help connect students with existing street outreach, shelter-based care, and advocacy organizations to provide more longitudinal volunteering experiences.
