James Carter

Education: B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology & Biochemistry, Wesleyan University

Policy Experience & Interests: For three years of college, James spent time in weekly meetings with patients at a state psychiatric hospital in Connecticut. He heard quite a bit, albeit anecdotally, about the social services patients relied upon and where they were struggling. He also spent the last two years working in Parkinson’s disease clinical research at Weill Cornell, where many patients’ care was frequently modified by what insurance plans would or would not cover. In part because of these experiences, James is interested in questions about how resources are allocated in the healthcare system – particularly in the case of preventative care.
