Policy Experience & Interests: Phillip’s interest in health policy first peaked while volunteering and working for an international sustainable development organization based in Central America throughout and after college. While abroad, he learned the vital importance of policy that aims to provide accessible treatment for all individuals and the impact of sustained community-level interventions when such policy is lacking. This experience and additional clinical experiences has motivated Phillip to work towards improving access to care at home and abroad throughout his career. He is interested in how healthcare systems may advocate and intervene to improve the treatment options and overall well-being of the communities they serve. Phillip hopes to utilize the LHP program and the opportunities it provides to learn of proven methods for improving overall access to care and how to integrate a focus on health policy throughout his career.
