The Military/Veteran Healthcare Group (MedVets) serves as a community for military veterans and HPSP students enrolled at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Medvets has the mission “continue to serve” and primarily focuses on refugee and veteran health initiatives. Currently, MedVets provides mental health care for refugees based in NYC as part of the Mount Sinai student-run mental health clinic. MedVets also supports students’ rotations in medical care of veterans at VA facilities throughout New York City by providing familiarization on both military culture and common illnesses that affect veterans.

In addition to working closely with the student body at Mount Sinai, we connect with other veteran organizations in order to encourage veteran interest in medicine and support veterans in the NYC area.
